New homes at Station Road, Hungerford

Key Benefits

As well as providing 45 new homes, and a policy compliant level of affordable housing our proposals would bring a number of added benefits including:

PROVIDING A SENSE OF ARRIVAL TO HUNGERFORD

In line with the Council’s aspirations for Station Road, the site will provide a sense of arrival for those entering Hungerford Town, with a gateway building adjacent to the station allowing for increased natural surveillance around the train station.

REDEVELOPMENT OF BROWNFIELD LAND FOR NEW HOMES

Both local and national planning policy encourages the re-development of brownfield land for new homes.  Creating new homes on sites like Station Road helps local authorities like West Berkshire Council to withstand pressure to build new homes in less sustainable locations.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

The scheme for new homes at Station Road will provide 30% of the new homes as affordable, for both rent and purchase, in accordance with local planning policy, meaning approximately 13 new affordable homes for Hungerford.

SUSTAINABLE NEW HOMES

Our proposals are designed to high sustainability standards and will incorporate renewable technologies, including PV panels and air source heat pumps, ensuring significant reduction in CO₂ emissions.

LANDSCAPING

Our proposals for new homes include substantial landscaping, and tree planting which will result in a significant Biodiversity Net Gain, providing ecological benefits, and will considerably improve the view of Hungerford for anyone arriving by train.

NEW LEASE OF LIFE FOR THE RAILWAY TAVERN

Archel Homes have granted a new lease to the landlord of the Railway Tavern, which will ensure this much-loved pub continues to be a key port of call for residents and contributor to the local economy.

NEW HOMES WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF HUNGERFORD TOWN CENTRE

Residents of the new homes will be within walking distance of all the amenities of Hungerford town centre, and will have access to the existing public transport network for travel both within the county and further afield.
